I ordered these overpants From RidersDiscount's eBay auction site, saved a few bucks in the process. Service was great and very timely. I am very happy with the product. I ordered them in the size that I wear my jeans. Their a very true fit. My jeans are very snug in the waste (very laid-back winter) and so are these overpants. I would've ordered the next size up but they were not available in my inseam length. I'd e-mailed first gear about fitting prior to ordering. This was the size recommended. They did loosen up some after my first ride. The main problem was with the button on the waistband, it kept popping off as I wore it around the house trying to break the pants in that but stayed snapped on a two hour ride. The waistband also has a hook fastener that is actually the main attachment. As I've stated the pants are true to size fit. Snug to the point where I had to remove my wallet, and a tool pouch on my belt to get the pants to snap. I wear a 30 inch inseam and to get that inseam I had to order the short length, the next waist size up did not come in short. With the short length the knee padding fit perfect and the length of the legs were perfect also. I believe once I take the lining out for the summer they'll fit perfectly. As far as the pants themselves I was impressed with the build and quality. Plenty of pockets and storage area. As I said I rode two hours with them in cool weather and didn't notice any discomfort whatsoever. The real test will come this summer when it heats up considerably. I bought these overpants because normally I wear shorts. This will be perfect, I can wear these over my shorts for protection, and slip them off when I get where I'm going. As far as padding, the padding in the knees seems light but adequate. Hip armor is definitely lacking, but they do make add-on armor that fit these pants. The material seems to be very sturdy and would go a long way toward preventing road rash should the unthinkable happen. As I've said I've only gave these overpants a short-term test, and so far I'm impressed. Fit finish and quality are excellent, and while they're not the cheapest they're also not the most expensive. All in all a good buy.
