Description
Both aftermarket and OE clutch springs have traditionally been manufactured from chromesilicon, a cost effective material that, if manufactured with proper attention to detail, can produce consistent cost effective springs. The problem with silicon springs is that today' four-stroke engines produce much more heat than their two-stroke predecessors. This high heat causes chrome silicon springs to lose strength rapidly and become lighter and shorter than the manufacturer intended, allowing the clutch to slip. Hinson springs are manufactured from a material that is resistant to high temperatures, resulting in clutch clamping pressure that optimizes clutch life.
